Wat Mahathat: This temple, in Nakhon Si Thammarat, is one of the most highly revered temples in the south, a destination for pilgrims coming from all over the country. It is said to house a fragment of bone from the historical Buddha. The top of the chedi is said to be 700 (or 1,000) kilograms of gold.
