Minnesota Markets with Thai Ingredients

Return to: U. S. Market Listing

The list was last updated in 2001 so it may be out-of-date.

There are terrific Asian markets in Minnesota. When we visited the Twin Cities in May (2001) there was an good selection of excellent produce. In general there was even a better Kasma's preferred brands than we have locally.

One asterisk (*) indicates a good market; two asterisks (**) indicates an excellent market.

Minneapolis & St. Paul

Check the following two areas for Asian markets:
     • University Avenue in St. Paul (300 to 400 block)
     • Nicollet Avenue South in Minneapolis (2800 to 2400 block)

**Ha Tien Market
353 W. University Ave.
St. Paul, MN 55103
(651) 227-7136
They carry most of Kasma's favorite brands, including Golden Boy fish sauce and Golden Phoenix jasmine rice. They also have a nice selection of take out food.
Kim Hung Supermarket Inc.
335 W. University Ave.
St. Paul, MN 55103
(651) 221-9803
They seem particularly good for cookware.
*Shang Hur Supermarket
2710 Nicollet Avenue So.
Minneapolis, MN 55408
(612) 872-8606
Another excellent, all-round store.
2632 Nicollet Ave. So.
Minneapolis, MN 55408
(612) 871-1422
One of the few specifically Thai markets.

We ate excellent pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) at Quang Restaurant, at 2719 Nicollet Ave. S. Our favorite was the pig hock and beef soup.

Jasmine Market
14600 10th Ave. S.
Burnsville, MN. 55337
(952) 953-6424
According to its owners: "We have a Thai grocery in Burnsville, a suburb of Minneapolis, MN. We have all of the ingredients you list on your website."
