Winged beans (tua poo) are found throughout Thailand. This cross-section shows how they acquired their English name. They are hard to come by in the United States, though in the San Francisco Bay area they are sometimes available in season (late July & August) in some ethnic stores; also at that time sometimes found at the Old Oakland Farmer's Market.
