Buddha, Wat Pa Panohm

Many of the Buddha images are given offerings, often incense, the smell of which suffuses the temple, or candles, or (as here) lotus blossoms. Open lotus blossoms are a common symbol for enlightenment but in temples the lotus blossoms given in offerings are most often unopened. It is fascinating to notice which images receive offerings while others don't – some mysterious attraction pertaining only to certain statues.
